Monthly Meeting – Monday October 9th

Join us from 7-9 PM for our monthly meeting! The meeting is held at The Center for Urban Horticulture and is free and open to the public.

Join us from 1:30 – 5 PM for our Annual Auction! This year the auction is held at The Shoreline Community College and is free and open to the public.

10/09/23 – NWOS meeting – Speaker: Andrew McGinnis, “Growing Orchids in Grow Tents, Advanced Indoor Growing.”

11/13/23 – NWOS meeting – Speaker: Alan Koch, “A New Look at Intergeneric Phalaenopsis” Phalaenopsis have been enjoyed by novice growers for the ease of growth and long lasting flowers. Intergeneric Phalaenopsis hybrids are easier to grow, maintain the long lasting flowers and often bloom more often than a normal Phalaenopsis. Another benefit from this line of breeding has been the creation on many fragrant hybrids. The bright colors, fragrant flowers and smaller hardier plants make this an interesting direction in orchids.

12/11/23 – NWOS meeting – Holiday Food Truck Social, introduction of new Officers, NWOS Annual Meeting report, Schoenfeld and Northen Orchid Awards, and Holiday Plant gifts.

Annual Show

The Northwest Orchid Society sponsors an annual AOS judged show which is open to the public. Invited orchid vendors from across the U.S. bring plants to display and sell.

October 6th – Annual show setup.
October 7-8th – This will be held at The Volunteer Park Conservatory this year.

04/21/23 – Setup of the bench show at the Spokane Community College Lair
04/22/23 – 04/23/23 – Show open to public.

August Picnic

Instead of a meeting in August, the society holds a picnic for all of its members. The picnic is a social gathering held during a weekend in August, the date and location depending on weather.

Northwest Flower & Garden Festival

Most years, the society plans and builds an orchid exhibit as one of the main featured gardens at the Northwest Flower & Garden Festival.
