Jurahame Leyva, owner of The OrchidFix Nursery in Kurtistown Hawaii spoke to use about Current Trends in Paphiopedilum Maudiae Breeding. He started with the history of the hybrid group, and the species involved. Introduced us to the crucial plants that have been introduced into the breeding line giving us the plants we have today and the breeders responsible for the hybrids. He then moved on to what are the further directions can be taken with this group and what possible things we might expect.

“What went wrong?” This is the segment where you can bring in your problem plants and ask us, what went wrong?
We will also be re-introducing the “Legion of Bloom”. This is a friendly competition that you can elect to participate in. For $7 you will receive two different seedlings size plants, a Beallara and a Dendrobium. You will take them home, pot them up, and take care of them.

Tyler Albrecht was born and raised in Silicon Valley but currently resides in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains with his wife Dana and two children Reece and Reagan. Between running Reagan to her horse riding lessons 5 days a week and taking Reece to the Taekwondo studio three days a week. Not forgetting the multiple day competitions for both, Tyler is able to mix in dates with Dana and repotting orchids.
